How long is a training session?

Each lesson is 1 hour total length. 45 minutes dedicated to hands on work and 15 minutes dedicated to question/clarification

What do we need to bring to our sessions?

For your first lesson you will need a standard 6 foot slip leash (pet value), high value and low value reward.

High value reward can be a "special" treat or owner approved human food such as cheese or hot dogs. Low value reward can be kibble or the treats your pups get everyday! Please also have accessible the gear you use for your pup everyday. Ex: harness, leash, collar, etc.

How do we book our lesson?

Once your package payment is received, your coach will reach out to book your first lesson. Owners have full control of their own training schedule! Lesson times can change week by week depending on the owners schedule to provide flexibility for shift workers, students, kids activities, etc. Please send your coach your weekly availability to secure your training spot. If last minute training lessons are requested for the same week, our trainers will do their best to accommodate. Please allow us 24 hours to get back to any request. Any messages received outside of business hours will be responded to as soon as possible.

Do we need to be present for training?

YES! Wether it is one owner or the whole family, we encourage anyone involved in the dogs life to be present during the training lessons. One owner from each family is required as our training programs are focused on educating and engaging the owner throughout the training protocols. Our goal is to set you up for a lifetime of success!

Where do the sessions take place?

Training happens in your home as well as in the public. We strive to simulate real world situations that you and your pup experience everyday. Whether we are working on door manners at your own home, or reactivity/recall in the park. It is important for us to work with your dogs triggers and create positive behaviours in real time! Each location will be pre-determined before your session.

Will there be other dogs present?

Depending on the package you select, we may or may not have other dogs involved. During one on one sessions Coach Kyle and Coach Taylor will use their own dogs as distractions and educational tools. During group classes there will be multiple dogs involved in one training class.

How do we make payment?

Payment is accepted via e-transfer, cash or bank cheque. (We will have online payment coming soon)

Is the full package payment due up-front?

Yes it is. Owners receive a discounted rate per session by committing to a package.

What vaccinations does my dog need?

Dogs are required to have their age appropriate vaccinations, including:

Distemper, Parvo, Parainfluenza, Rabies and recommended - Leptospirosis and Bordatella.

Terms and Conditions

I recognize that in attending training sessions by Dog House Training Academy there may be risk to myself, any family member or guest in attendance, my dog(s), and my personal property. With full knowledge, I release Dog House Training Academy, its members, trainers, employees, facility owners and all associated persons (“agents” from any and all responsibility for accidents, loss, injuries or infections, and damage or theft to any person, animal or property. I am the owner of the dog(s) being trained. All behavioral advice and training suggestions offered by Dog House Training Academy, Taylor Medd/Kyle Apsey, and any agent thereof is accepted at my own risk. Use of this information is voluntary and Dog House Training Academy, Taylor Medd/Kyle Apsey, and any agent thereof is not responsible for injury to another human or animal. I am at all times responsible for the actions of my dog. Dog House Training Academy, Taylor Medd/Kyle Apsey, and any agent thereof is not responsible for any injuries or expenses resulting from socialization or training. I understand that some dogs, including my own or to which I or my dog might be exposed: may be difficult to control; may act aggressively towards other dogs, animals or people; may be a cause of injury even when handled with care; and may cause property damage. I also understand the possible risk to myself, my family, or my dog from other participants that may be in attendance. Dog House Training Academy may photograph or video my pet/myself and use such pictures for publicity, commercial, or promotional purposes without any liability or obligation to me. I understand that should my dog become aggressive, unruly, or unable to participate in class, whether it is with other dogs or privately, I will be asked to remove my dog from class and will not receive a refund for missed classes. I acknowledge that if my dog is aggressive and poses a risk to other persons, other dogs, and to itself, instead of training in a group environment, I should seek personalized one-on-one training. I certify that my dog has not caused harm to, or demonstrated aggressive or threatening behavior toward any human being and/or another animal prior to signing up for training classes. If my dog causes property damage, or bites or injures any other dog, animal or person during or after the term of this Agreement, then I agree to defend and indemnify Dog House Training Academy, Taylor Medd/Kyle Apsey, and any agent thereof from any resulting claims, demands, lawsuits, losses, costs or expenses, including attorney fees. If my dog is injured in a fight or in any other manner during or after the term of this Agreement, I assume the risk and agree that Dog House Training Academy, Taylor Medd/Kyle Apsey, and any agent thereof should not be held responsible for any resulting injuries, losses, damages, costs or expenses whatsoever. Upon request, I agree to provide the required Veterinary Certificate stating that my dog is healthy and has had proper veterinary examinations and has received the preventative health care (Distemper, Parvo, Parainfluenza, Bordetella, Leptospirosis) requirements to attend any training classes or services run by Dog House Training Academy. It is my responsibility to keep my dog current on vaccinations or titers. I recognize that dogs may still be susceptible to various diseases or infections despite being vaccinated and may infect me or my dog. I certify that my dog is in good health and has not been ill with any communicable conditions within the past 30 days. My dog has not been exposed to Rabies, Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus, or Bordetella (kennel cough) within a 30- day period prior to enrollment. I further certify that my dog is currently up to date on all vaccinations including Rabies (puppies younger than 4 months of age excluded), DA2PP, and Bortedella, with the last vaccination having been received no less than seven (7) days prior to enrollment. I agree to provide proof of vaccinations prior to the start of the training course. I agree to keep my dog’s vaccinations up-to-date during the training course. I acknowledge that any training package purchased from Dog House Training Academy must be used within a 4 month period, beginning on the day of purchase. Any remaining sessions not used within the 4 month period will result in forfeit without refund. Furthermore, Dog House Training Academy must be notified 24 hours prior to session time of cancellation in order to re-book your training appointment. Failure to provide 24 hours notice will result in forfeit of session. Any unpaid invoices to Dog House Training Academy are subject to a late penalty of $50 per month of the unpaid invoice. Dog House Training Academy, Taylor Medd/Kyle Apsey reserve the right to cancel/re-book sessions at any time for inclement weather, or training conditions. hereby acknowledge that Dog House Training Academy may terminate services if (a) in the sole judgment of Dog House Training Academy, my dog is dangerous or vicious to any person or animal, or interferes with the training of other dogs, or (b) I breach any term or condition of this Agreement or (c) either party cancels the agreement. Upon termination in accordance with the foregoing, the duties of Dog House Training Academy and Taylor Medd/Kyle Apsey shall terminate but all other provisions of this Agreement shall continue in full force and effect. By signing up to host a training seminar or enrolling your dog into the programs, you agree to the above terms and conditions.
